Adios '09

Hi Guys! Sorry that the updating has been basically nonexsistent. As if the Holidays weren't enough stress, I came down with a terrible cold the day before Christmas Eve and have been just lounging in bed since then. Hope you all had wonderful holidays! I'll post a picture of what I got later this week.
I can't believe 2009 is over. The decade is over. Thats crazy. But there some pretty good and bad times to this year. I'm more excited for whats to come.
Anyone have really exciting plans for the New Years?

Spring 2010 Best of :Flats

Earlier this week I came across one of the first few sites that have Spring 2010 shoes up for sale. I of course went through and determined my favorite for every category. As I mentioned in this post I decided to share a few of my favorites with you.

Today I am going to share some of my favorite flats with you guys. I've never been much of a flats girl. Maybe its because I was forced to wear the same boring black pair with my school uniform from age 12 to 18. Either way I tend not to incorporate them into my outfits. That might be why my selections for this category are so few.

Giuseppe Zanotti- Toe Ring Camouflaged Print Flats

I love how simple these shoes hare. They are understated yet very elegant and would look good with almost anything during any summer season. They would never go out of style.

Melissa- Open Toe Ballerina Flats

I love the earthy feel of these shoes. The weave of the shoe makes me think of twigs and leaves. I think they would match with almost anything because of the neutral colors.

Salvatore Ferragamo- Acqua Glitter Spiffy Flats

These shoes were my favorite of the bunch. I loved how it brought me back to when I was kid. Jelliez were cool then. And apparently they are coming back in style. I love the glitter and the shape of these shoes. If there is one thing I probably get from all of the shoes I talk about it is most likely these.

Spring 2010 Best of: Boots

As I mentioned here, this week I am sharing my favorite shoes available from the Spring 2010 collections. Today's category is boots. There were several different styles this season for boots. However many of the designers seemed to go in the direction of edgy combat boot style. While I am a fan of that look, I was more inspired by a few of the different pieces.

Giuseppe Zanotti- Washed Denim Ankle Boots

I love this boot. Its refreshing amoungst all the black and can be paired with almost anything. I really love the silver stripe along the top as well. It adds flare.

Alexander Wang- Freja Laced Zip Boots

Even amoung the see of black combat boot look-a-likes this boot stands out. I love the way it appears to be a boot within a boot. Its edgy without being over the top.

DSQUARED- Patent Folded Booty Boots

I love how different these shoes are. The orange color makes them stand out and the shape it to die for. I also love the rock and roll touch the black rugged soles lend to the shoe.

Stuart Weitzman- Peep Toe Low Booties

These are right on trend. I think that the spring clothes are starting to soften up a bit but florals with leather and zippers will always be a good combination. I can see these shoes paired with a knee length floral skirt.

So,Santa, if your listening these are at the top of my list. ;-)

Which do you like best?

Let it snow...

image from freefoto.com
The snow is still coming down where I live. We have about two feet already. About an hour ago it stopped for a few minutes. I went outside to admire the stillness that happens after a storm. Its always been one of my most favorite things. How the snow hangs from the branches and the air seems fresh and new. I was never one for winter but I always loved that quite moment.
Whats the weather like where you live?

Best of Spring 2010

Obsessed With Shoes recent blog post brought to my attention that Luisavairoma is one of the first sites to have 2010 shoes up. Needless to say I spent hours upon hours inspecting each and every shoe with the lovely 360 animations they provide. Over the course of the next few days I'm going to share my picks of each category : boots, flats, pumps, sandals and wedges.

On Gossamer Wings

I went shopping yesterday for Christmas gifts and ofcourse found myself wandering into Free People maybe looking for a little gift for myself. And I fell in love with the most beautiful tunic. I would love this for my trip to Mexico in January.

I love the whimsical feel to it. I feel like it would be perfect in the summer with gold gladiators and white jeans. The details are beautiful as well.

Buy the Gossamer Wings Tunic at Free People for $128

Model Muse

Abbey Lee Kershaw has recently become one of my favorite inspirations. I think she is gorgeous and makes whatever she is wearing look fabulous. Abbey Lee, 23, got her big break in Australia when she won a modeling competition and is now #13 in the top 50 female models. She recently caught my eye in that Vogue Italia meiselpic spread that has been getting so much attention.

She is so versatile and looks wonderful in everything. Her street style in enviable and its no wonder designers are dying to have her model their clothes.

NINE premire

I was looking through pictures of the New York "Nine" premier this morning and couldn't help but be captivated by the beautiful dresses. While Kate Hudson looked gorgeous in her Chanel Haute Couture and Nicole Kidman rocked the strapless Prada, it was Fergie who won best dressed for the evening in my eyes. Her Marchesa gown from the 2010 resort collection was absolutely stunning.

Seeing the gown on her made me remember how much I really loved that collection. Resort is so often overlooked. I really loved an article I read in Harpers not to long ago that talked about the poor overlooked collections. Marchesa's 2010 Resort collection is a beautiful mix of ancient Greek meets chic uptown girl. My favorite pieces are the classical inspired dresses.

Its like Christmas came early...

So the Rodarte for Target is supposed to hit stores December 20th but apparently my target didn't get the memo. I waltzed in there looking for a few Christmas gifts and ran into the entire Rodarte for Target collection. I've been seeing pictures online and was super eager to get my hands on a couple of pieces.

This little dress caught my eye right away. The print and the shape were what got my attention but the little bows down the back of the dress made me swoon. Unfortunately the arms fit a bit funny and I had to leave it on the rack.

I did however, pick up this sheer cardigan in the yellow. It has this beautiful floral pattern on the mesh and the color will look nice in the spring. The dress in the second picture was my second purchase. It is comfortable and felt like a slip but it look sophisticated and could easily be layered. The prices weren't to high and I was satisfied with the quality of the purchase.

Gone are the days of Full House

I've been obsessed with this shoot since the first time I saw it. Its so very not-Olsen like. And its beautifully done. I think she looks beautiful and should try rocking the dark hair.

Literary Pursuits

I don't want this blog to only be about shoes and clothing trends I find interesting. In an effort to make the content more diverse I am going to introduce you to things over than clothes that inspire me.
I have always loved literature and writing. I'm currently a journalism major and double minored in creative writing and spanish. Writing is a big part of my life, and with writing comes a lot of reading.

We just finished this little gem in my creative writing class. If you have never read Saunders before I highly suggest him. His stories are out there but they always have a moral or meaning that packs a punch. This book was a childrens story turned fable of genocide.

The story has inspired some sketches of robotic type shoes that I will hopefully be able to scan and post later this week.

Carrie Fisher's Fabulous Shoes

Until I go back to work (hopefully sometime this week), my days are relatively empty. I was sitting around this morning wondering what I should do with all of this time on my hands. Two months free between semesters and only part-time work weeks....who needs a better excuse to rewatch all the seasons of Sex and The City?

I must admit that I share Carrie's love for Manolos.

And so today I thought I would leave you with some words of wisdome from the designer himself.

"I like things that are timeless. I love when you see someone who has had the same pair of shoes mended again and again, for years. I love things that are made to last and I admire women who have style. As far as the changing fashions, I jsut love shoes; I don't give a damn about trends!"

I've been obsessed with these babies since I fist laid eyes on them. The leather looks like butter and they can clearly switch to so many outfits.

"I think women in flat shoes look beautiful-but-it is more difficult to look graceful. When women wear flat shoes they often walk: stomp, stomp, stomp- like a man. It is more of a challange to be feminine in flats. You look at Audrey Hepburn or Brigitte Bardot when they wore flats- they were beautiful; like little reindeer- but its not like that for everyone."

Rainy Sunday...

Its such a depressing morning. Gray skies and puddles have brought a huge downer to the day. I've mostly been sitting around reading old copies of Vogue and Harpers and reading through my bloglovin. I finally settled down with some hot cocoa and decided that today I would treat you guys to a lovely list of goodies I have been lusting for this week.

Burberry Shimmer Trench

This is clearly inspired by the weather. The raincoat I have now is meant to withstand heavy duty rain and there fore is anything but chic.

Prada Slingbacks

I have been obsessed with these since I first saw them. Now all the bloggers seem to have them andevery outfit possibility I see them paired with makes me want them more. I'm not usually one for a slingback but these are to die for. They also are currently one sale and hopefully mine in the near future!

Nars Bronzer- in Laguna

This is my go to bronzer. If anyone out there is looking for a bronzer with amazing coverage that is light, this is for you. My boyfriend dropped my make up bag the other day and the powder broke and fell all over the floor. I expect a replacement for Christmas.

I think I'm going to curl up with another cup of cocoa and watch a few old movies.

Sex on Legs

Ran across this editorial today while surfing the net. I have to agree with the title. What woman doesn't feel like a temptress when she has a beautiful pair of louboutins on her feet. I worship the ground this man walks on.
